Cookie Notice — Riftgaze
1. The Short Version
Riftgaze does not set advertising cookies, does not set analytics cookies, and does not run any tracking script of its own. The only thing this site stores in your browser is one small local-storage entry recording that you have seen the cookie banner — no cookie file, and nothing that identifies you personally.
2. What Local Storage We Use
Local storage is a browser feature similar to a cookie but kept only on your device and never sent back to any server automatically. We use exactly one entry for exactly one purpose: remembering that you dismissed the cookie banner, so it does not reappear on every page.
3. Table of Storage in Use
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration | Set by |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| rg-notice-ack | Local storage | Remembers that the cookie banner was dismissed | Until you clear your browser data | Riftgaze (first party) |
4. Cloudflare
This site is served through Cloudflare, which acts as our content delivery network. Cloudflare does not need a persistent tracking cookie to serve a static page like this one. On rare occasions, if Cloudflare's automated security system detects unusual traffic and issues a short-lived challenge, it may set its own temporary cookie (for example, one named __cf_bm) purely to complete that security check — this is set and controlled by Cloudflare's network protection, not by this site, and expires quickly.
If Cloudflare's cookie-less Web Analytics beacon is active on this domain, it reports aggregate page-load performance (such as load time and general device type) directly to Cloudflare without placing any cookie or local storage entry, and without identifying you individually. Where active, it is disclosed here for transparency, consistent with section 4 of the Privacy Charter.
5. What We Do Not Use
No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking pixels, no social media "like" or "share" buttons that load third-party scripts, no session-replay tools, and no first-party analytics platform. There is nothing on this site to opt out of beyond the banner itself, because nothing beyond the banner is being set.
6. Managing or Clearing Storage
You can clear the local storage entry described above at any time through your browser's privacy or site-data settings — clearing it simply means the cookie banner will show again on your next visit. Because we do not use any cookies for tracking, there is no cookie-blocking step needed to stop being tracked by this site; nothing here does that in the first place.
7. Changes to This Notice
If the storage this site uses ever changes — for example, if a future feature needed an additional entry — this notice and its table would be updated to match before that change went live. This notice was last updated on September 15, 2026.
